Purpose - To create three separate Service Areas for Police, Fire and EMS within the city of Calgary. Three service area polygons are created for each facility at 3, 5 and 10 - minute impedance drive times. Direction of travel is from the facility, no U-Turns are allowed and one-way restrictions must be followed.

Method - Using the Network Analyst extension, the Drive Time in minutes was selected for the Impedance at 3, 5 and 10 minutes, as the default breaks; Away from Facility as Direction, Not Allowed from the U-turn’s Junctions drop down list, Ignore Invalid Locations and One-way from the restrictions list. Overlapping, ringed, untrimmed, generalized Polygons were selected.

 

The symbology was flipped, so the individual breaks are represented from light to dark.
