Purpose – To visualize and analyze 3D surface data using ArcScene.

Method – Using a base set of contour data generated from the National Elevation Database (NED) in 1/9th Arc Second, with a 5-meter contour interval, a Triangular Irregular Network (TIN) surface is created.
Under the Layer Properties in ArcScene, Floating on a Custom Surface was set to a Digital Elevation Model (DEM) with an extrusion value of 40, adding to each feature’s minimum height. The symbology was changed to Face Elevation with a Gradient Colour Ramp.
